Who you are agreeing with
Moose Climate is run by Richard Willars, an individual, contactable at hello@mooseclimate.com. Connecting your car means you accept these terms.
What the service does
You give it departure times. At each one, minus the head start you chose, it sends your car a single command asking it to start climate control. That is the whole service.
It cannot choose a temperature, cannot stop climate control once it has started, and cannot tell you whether it worked. Volvo's API offers none of those things. The car uses its own target setting and stops on its own after about 30 minutes.
It is independent of Volvo
Moose Climate is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or connected to Volvo Car Corporation. Volvo is not responsible for it and provides no support for it. Volvo's name appears here only to identify the cars the service works with.
It depends on something outside its control
The service works entirely through Volvo's public developer API. Volvo is entitled to modify, suspend, limit or terminate access to that API at any time and without prior notice, and may do so for reasons that have nothing to do with you or with this service.
If that happens, schedules will stop running. There may be no warning, and there may be nothing that can be done about it.
No warranty, and please do not rely on it
The service is provided as is and as available, with no warranty of any kind. Commands may fail to send, may arrive late, or may be refused by your car. Nothing here reports whether a command worked, because nothing in Volvo's API can.
Do not rely on it for anything where a cold or hot car would be a problem — a medical need, a critical journey, a vehicle carrying anyone who needs a particular temperature. Treat it as a convenience that will sometimes not happen.
Your car, your energy
Climate control draws energy from your car, whether that is battery range or fuel. Every command sent is one you scheduled, and the energy it uses is your cost. Scheduling a departure time is you asking for that to happen.
You are responsible for your car being somewhere it is safe to run climate control at the times you have chosen.
Disconnecting
You can disconnect your car at any time, from the app, without asking anyone. Doing so revokes this service's access at Volvo and deletes everything held about you immediately and irreversibly. See the privacy page for exactly what that is.
The service may also be withdrawn, changed or shut down at any time. If it is shut down, stored data is deleted rather than kept.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, Richard Willars is not liable for any loss arising from the service — including a command that did not send, sent late, or sent when it was not wanted, and including energy used by your car. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not remove protections you have under the law of the country you live in.
